The Mack Podcast: Building Generational Wealth: Family Office Governance, Estate Planning and Investing

In this conversation with Brian Adams, Matt McClintock explains how wealth strategy has to evolve when families achieve wealth of generational consequence, particularly when that wealth is concentrated in Bitcoin or other digital assets. What may begin as a conversation around estate planning often expands into a much broader discussion about stewardship, family purpose, governance, jurisdiction, and the structures needed to preserve optionality over time.

Matt emphasizes that families with significant wealth cannot treat planning as a one-time exercise. As the balance sheet grows, children grow, relationships change, laws change, and opportunities shift, wealth strategy has to remain active and iterative. That is especially true for globally minded families who increasingly recognize that how and where assets are owned is just as important as the assets themselves. Trust structures, legal regimes, privacy considerations, asset protection, and access to global markets all become part of a more sophisticated framework for holding and transferring wealth.

The conversation also explores how Bespoke’s clients are asking deeper questions about the meaning behind their wealth. Many are not simply concerned with the size of the balance sheet, but what their wealth is ultimately for. That leads naturally into discussions around philanthropy, mission-aligned investing, succession, and the values a family hopes to carry forward into the next generation. True wealth strategy helps families identify the purpose of their wealth and ensure it is stewarded with clarity and intention.
